本期中的两篇精选论文报告了随机对照试验中评估食道和肠道病变检测的新技术。在任何一种情况下,作者都认为新方法的作用有限。在van Munster等人进行的一项多中心交叉研究中,有巴雷特食管和发育不良史的患者接受了广域经皮取样(WATS),同时根据西雅图方案进行了镊子活检。虽然WATS和活检的结合增加了对发育不良的检测,但单独的WATS并不明显优于单独的活检。

Wide-area transepithelial sampling with computer-assisted analysis to detect high grade dysplasia and cancer in Barrettʼs esophagus: a multicenter randomized study

Current surveillance for Barrett’s esophagus (BE), consisting of four-quadrant random forceps biopsies (FBs), has an inherent risk of sampling error. Wide-area transepithelial sampling (WATS) may increase detection of high grade dysplasia (HGD) and esophageal adenocarcinoma (EAC). In this multicenter randomized trial, van Munster et al aimed to evaluate WATS as a substitute for FB.

Evaluation of a real-time computer-aided polyp detection system during screening colonoscopy: AI-DETECT study

Polyp detection and resection during colonoscopy significantly reduce long-term colorectal cancer risk. Computer-aided detection (CADe) may increase polyp identification but has undergone limited clinical evaluation. The authors' aim was to assess the effectiveness of CADe at colonoscopy within a bowel cancer screening program (BCSP).
