Endoscopy | Issue 3/2022
ENDO.jpg

Incidence and outcomes of poor healing and poor squamous regeneration after radiofrequency ablation therapy for early Barrett’s neoplasia

van Munster Sanne N et al.

Incidence.jpg

Endoscopic eradication therapy with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is effective in most patients with Barrett’s esophagus (BE). However, some patients experience poor healing and/or poor squamous regeneration. We evaluated incidence and treatment outcomes of poor healing and poor squamous regeneration.

Implementation of mandatory ERCP registration in The Netherlands and compliance with European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy performance measures: a multicenter database study

Theunissen Felix et al.

Implementation.jpg

In 2018, the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and United European Gastroenterology (UEG) published quality performance measures for endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). Since January 2016, all endoscopists in the Netherlands have been required to register all ERCP procedures in a nationwide quality registry. This study aimed to evaluate the procedural success rates of ERCP after the implementation of mandatory national registration and to compare these with the ESGE quality performance measures.

Technical Review

Therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound: European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Technical Review

van Wanrooij Roy LJ et al.

This Technical review complements the recent European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Guideline on therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound. The aim of this Technical review is to discuss the technical considerations of therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound and the management of adverse events. The Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system was adopted to define the strength of recommendations and the quality of evidence.
